Prince Tonye Princewill; remember that name. A perfect dish requires all the right ingredients and while there is no one perfect but God, there are a few men, who, with what they possess mentally, do come close. To make it anywhere near the summit of business in Nigeria it takes a man with grit, determination and perseverance as well as vision; key ingredients lacking in most.; The achievements of Prince Tonye Princewill, at this point in time, speaks volumes. The man has not only reached where most aspire to be, running a conglomerate of successful businesses, unlike many Nigerian successes, he has reached down to help those at the bottom of the rung, opening his doors to the upstarts and upcoming even as he aims for higher heights.
We sought him out to find out what makes him tick and he made time out to grant us an audience on twitter. #celebtweetchat
@Beyoumag: Goodevening sir, welcome to #celebtweetchat
@TonyePrincewill- Great to be given the opportunity.
@Beyoumag-Do you think there is something to show for the time we have been independent?
@TonyePrincewill- Very little, if anything at all. I think we all know this. My worry is if we are reversing the -ve trend. The answer is No.
@Beyoumag- How do we start turning this around?
@TonyePrincewill- Every single one of us taking personal responsibility. Good leadership will help but in the end we are all leaders.
@Beyoumag-How do u rate this government compared to past governments?
@TonyePrincewill- Federal 4/10, State 5/10, Local 4/10.
@Beyoumag- In what capacity do you participate in this present government?
@TonyePrincewill- Constructive critic
@Beyoumag- What are your political intentions come 2015?
@TonyePrincewill- Boring questions deserve boring answers. We will find out soon enough. Those who wish my participation, speak.
@Beyoumag-Would you agree that the middle class is non existent in Nigeria?
@TonyePrincewill- Absolutely. They are an endangered species like the white Rhino and the Siberia tiger. At this rate zero near.
@Beyoumag-How do we sanitize the minds of young Nigerians to focus on developing themselves inspite of the challenges of the nation?
@TonyePrincewill- Living by example. Those of us who are blessed need to inspire.Especially those who do not wait for government.
@Beyoumag- Do you believe sir that just one man can make the difference? Do you think you can be any different from what we have? @TonyePrincewill- I already am. I have to be, I refuse to represent what is. I have to represent what must be. Status quo is a no.
@Beyoumag-How do you identify with the man who cannot feed or the frustrated graduate who cannot get a job?
@TonyePrincewill- By taking myself back to 1990 when I was there too and how I came up from nothing without Gov.
@Beyoumag- From media reports, you've given over N200M as donations, gifts, empowerment packages e.t.c. Sir, considering your romance with RSG is it right to say most of your donations are funded from its purse?
@TonyePrincewill- Way more than 200 million this year alone. How far back should I go? too numerous to mention.
@Beyoumag- Do you believe PDP is the only party to rule the south south and are you in the party to increase your chances?
@TonyePrincewill- PDP is a stronger force yes but my support for Amaechi and Atiku took me there, I just wanted to leave AC.
@Beyoumag-Is that the reason for your billboard that says "have a forgiving spirit thats why pencils have erasers"?
@TonyePrincewill- All my billboards have more than one meaning. A single meaning is touch too simplistic. I can explain each in atleast 3 ways.
@Beyoumag-Do you agree that the average Nigerian politician is part of the problem rather than the solution?
@TonyePrincewill- i agree that the average Nigerian politician is indeed not just part of the problem but the problem.
@Beyoumag- How would you tackle the boko haram saga and incessant kidnappings which this government has been impotent against?
@TonyePrincewill- By using a combination of methods. Intelligence will guide me but seeing it as religious, ethnic and police will help.Kidnappings? Sane intelligence. But state police will help.
@Beyoumag- What impact have you made in your immediate community where you are a prince?
@TonyePrincewill- In my immediate community I brought peace in 2003 when I first arrived from London and saw crises. Havent stopped. You have come so far as a person, what has it taken and how does the next Nigerian learn from your experiences?
@TonyePrincewill- Refusing to let anybody or anything hold me back. Refusing to be a victim and holding on to God as the one who decides my fate.
@Beyoumag-Do you have anything you would like to say to everyone reading this? @TonyePrincewill- Please thank everyone for taking time to follow the tweet meet. Hope we can do this again.
